![]() Designed to promote Canadian pork exports, CPI’s Export Market Development Program provides contributions on a cost-shared basis for generic and company-initiated export market development activities that may deal with market access issues and with the quality and the dependability of supply. — The program is meant to promote and expand Canadian pork exports. — Canadian packers, processors and trading houses that are regular CPI members can apply. — The funds are not meant to cover regular business operations. They are meant for promotional and new business development purposes. — Expenses from foreign representatives are not eligible (staff based outside Canada) — All applications should be submitted PRIOR to travel execution. — All travel claims and expenses related to previously approved activities under this program must be accompanied with a project report. Program description The Export Market Development Program consists of three components: — Export Market Diversification (EMD) — Export Market Adaptation (EMA) — Export Market Investigation (EMI) ![]() Financial Assistance — Per diems will be allocated to cover daily expenses (meals, hotel accommodation, local or in-city transportation, such as taxis, bus, rentals, etc.) All hotel invoices should state the name of the traveler(s): - Outside Canada: $200/day/person - In Canada: $150/day/person* * Canadians and foreign representatives of CPI members are not eligible — The lowest economy airfare and out-of-city air transportation will be reimbursed at 50% (original receipts required). The program does not reimburse GST/HST. A copy of hotel bills will also be required to prove that the trip took place. Domestic flights and hotel invoices/per diems within Canada will not be reimbursed to CPI members’ representatives. — Visiting countries or cities other than the one where the trade show and/or CPI seminar took place will be eligible but hotel bills will be required to calculate per diem allocation. — Under the terms and conditions of the AgriMarketing program, only the lowest economy fare can be reimbursed. No Business Class fare is eligible for reimbursement. The maximum for reimbursement is as follows: - Australia - $4,000 - East-Asia (Japan, China and South Korea) - $3,000 - Russia - $2,500 - European Union - $2,000 - For other destinations, CPI will look at the Air Canada Flex fares to determine if the travel claim is reasonable. Report The report which is compulsory must be completed using the report form provided by CPI. The report form must be completed using a word processor. No hand written reports will be accepted. A Market Investigation report will be required for each country visited during the same trip, other than the one where the trade show and/or CPI seminar took place. Project Reimbursement Procedures Per diem calculations are based on the dates shown on copies of hotel invoices. Airfare reimbursement is limited to lowest economy fare only. Applicants should submit the documents above along with their report. It is not necessary to invoice CPI for these expenses. Participation Fees There will be a participation fee charged for each show that will vary between $500 and $3,000. The cost of individual company cubicles will be in addition. The participation fee for CPI seminars taking place on the same trip will be $500 per company. Participating companies will be invoiced at least one month prior to the event (trade show or seminar). Payment must be received before the event takes place in order to be allowed to participate. Export Market Diversification funding will not be available to CPI members applying for travel assistance at the time of a show where CPI has a booth if the member is not participating in the booth. Payment No later than 30 days after the project has been completed, the applicant must submit his claim and the mandatory report. CPI will then submit that claim for reimbursement to the AgriMarketing Secretariat. Once the refund is received, CPI will then reimburse that amount and will issue an invoice for the 10% of management fees (minimum $200) to the applicant.
