Canadian Pork Seminar with Supermarket Chain Selection
CPI hosted a seminar for the supermarket chain Selection. The goal was to educate supermarket meat department staff about benefits and attributes of Canadian pork.
Canada Pork International Presents Twelfth Regional Seminar
in Sendai
Sendai was hit by the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami last year. They are recovering and one year later, CPI was able to hold the twelfth Canadian pork regional seminar in Sendai on May 23 rd with 80 participants.
The seminar was a success and the product was very well received - there was interest in expanding Canadian pork sales throughout the Tohoku area. Recently a major supermarket started to stock Canadian pork in place of product from North American competitors.
Canadian Pork showcased for Consumers
CPI participated in its second consumer event at Palace Hotel Omiya in Saitama Prefecture on June 6 th. There were over 100 participants, invited from the hotel’s client list.
The Palace Hotel presents a “Canada Fair” annually and in addition to the tasting event, the hotel’s five restaurants feature menu items made with Canadian products, including Canadian pork. The restaurants were decorated with Canadian pork flyers, posters and banners to enhance the promotion.
The “Canada Fair” was supported by CPI, the Canadian Embassy, the Governments of Quebec and Alberta along with several other Canadian food companies.
There are many supermarket chains in Saitama carrying Canadian pork; flyers listing these locations were available so that attendees who had an opportunity to taste Canadian pork also knew where to purchase it locally.
CPI presented a short seminar featuring information on the attributes of Canadian pork including food safety, taste, and quality.
The participants then enjoyed a Canadian pork tasting prepared by the hotel ‘s Grand Chef including dishes like Tonkatsu, Shabu Shabu, steak, roast pork, Chinese dishes, and pork curry.
