![]() CPI is proud to announce that Jurgen Preugschas, Alberta hog producer and member of CPI’s Board of Directors (currently holding the position of Treasurer) has been elected as a Member of the Executive Council of the International Meat Secretariat (IMS) for 2012-2014. Mr. Preugschas was elected during the General Assembly of Members which was held at the World Meat Congress on June 4-6 in Paris, France. The IMS brings together meat and livestock organisations throughout the world in a single non-profit making association. It provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences on the issues affecting the international meat and livestock sector. The IMS, as the representative international association of the meat and livestock industry is in regular contact with other international and inter-governmental organisations whose activities are linked to the international meat and livestock sector. These include the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Office International des Epizooties – World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), Commission of the European Union (EU). Given the challenges facing the meat industry today, It is important for CPI to have a representative of the Canadian pork industry at the International Meat Secretariat. We congratulate Mr. Preugshas for accepting this position with this prestigious organization. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our newest member: Associate Members ALIMENTARY TRADE INC.
